Too many stems diverts the plants energy into doing too much.

The same happens once blooming gets underway in earnest. The first blooms arrive atop strong sturdy stems, marvellous!

Then weeks go by and your stems seem to become progressively weaker, snapping under the strain??

At the end of the season what do we do with our Dahlias…….The best defense is excellent drainage…, here at Swan Cottage Flowers, we garden on Buckinghamshire light sandy loam, which proves a challenge keeping everything fed and watered during the growing season…but is excellent for overwintering Dahlias.
