Strawflower ‘Copper Red’
Strawflower ‘Copper Red’ glows like its on fire!
Strawflower’s are so much fun to grow. As well as making handsome garden plants, Strawflowers looks superb in arrangements, giving unique texture and you can dry them upside down and use them indefinitely.
Very easy for the beginner gardener and a must for the Florist! I love Strawflower ‘Copper Red’ for flower crowns, hair slides, buttonholes and late summer bouquets to compliment the Dahlia’s.
How to grow:
Frost tender I sow in the Spring. Seed requires light to germinate so do not cover. For more detailed growing instructions join our ‘Grow Along’ on Instagram
Variety: Helichrysum bracteatum
Type: Half Hardy Annual
Position: Full sun
Germination: Up to 30 days
Harvest: June onwards (90 days to maturity)
Seeds per packet: 250 (approx. counted by weight)
Cutting /Vase Life:
Pick as soon as the flowers start to open, straight into ready buckets of water for fresh use. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning. Or hang upside down to keep stems straight to dry. In floristry its easier to wire flower buds ahead of drying.
