Sweet Pea Charlie’s Angles is without a doubt, my favourite of all. Its got everything, long stems, huge flowers and the sweetest fragrance.
Favourites are always just a personal preference and simply this is mine.
I hope that starting with this all round useful blue sweet pea will give you the best possible experience and mark the start a life long obsession.
How to Grow:
Here in the south of the United Kingdom I sow from Autumn onwards, undercover. Spencer varieties will also happily grow from a late Winter/early Spring sowing, before planting outside in March or April (or 2-3 months before your last frost date). Provide a strong trellis or support for Sweet peas to climb.
*Unlike garden peas, sweetpea seeds are poisonous if ingested. Unfortunately mice still like to steal them so are best pre-sprouted in doors or on a rodent proof shelf in the greenhouse.

Cutting /Vase Life:
For the longest vase life, pick when the first flower opens leaving two to open in the vase. Sweetpeas have a relatively short vase life making them the perfect choice when growing your own.
Place flowers straight into ready buckets of water. We rest our stems for a few hours in water, this is called conditioning.
