Verity and Josh’s Stowe Wedding is a celebration of Spring!
Verity and Josh met at Bletchley Rugby club where they both played (Josh for the ‘Mens’ and Verity for the ‘Ladies’ Teams).
When I asked about the proposal Verity explained:
“We were on holiday in the Dominican Republic, we’d decided to go for a walk along the beach, it was a beautiful clear night.
Walking arm in arm I was gazing out at the ocean when Josh got down on one knee.
I was suddenly conscious I was carrying my ‘flip flops’ and deciding that I didn’t want to get engaged with my shoes in my hand, quickly flung them behind me!
I said ‘Yes’ immediately of course, but the shoes took a bit of finding in the dark!”
Stowe House is a grade I listed country house in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, England.
It is the home of Stowe School and where Josh was trained in ‘Deaf Rugby’. He now plays for England and has just received his ’14th Cap’.
Stowe House was an obvious choice for the Wedding but, Verity say’s
“What really cemented the choice, other than the stunning grounds, was the Ceremony room.”
After a trip to a Monastery in Porto the year before, Verity said “I dreamed of getting married in a circular room with everyone we loved surrounding us.”
We met Verity and her Mum Trish almost exactly a year to the day out from the Wedding. Verity kindly reminds me “Mum had visited Swan Cottage the previous summer and since then had thought of nothing else but English County Garden Flowers for the Wedding!”
Verity, Trish and Josh’s Mum Sam spent the afternoon playing with flower options and choosing shades of Anemones and Ranunculus that flower for us naturally in May.
After the consultation it was agreed that I would make the Bouquets, Buttonholes and Corsages leaving the family with the Venue Flowers to arrange and the Vases to choose and collect.
Wedding Flowers Workshop
After a year keeping in touch the big day was almost upon us.
Verity and Trish booked in for the Wedding Flowers Workshop. Together with a couple of extra flowery helpers we sat down with their vases and vessels and practiced arranging the venue flowers.
DIY Wedding Flowers
The day before the Wedding buckets of colour coordinated flowers were collected from us with everything required to make the spectacular arrangements to can see in these images.
After the photographs, the Bridemaids bouquets were placed in 5 identical glass vases and used to dress the fireplace (above).
So many congratulations Verity and Josh!
